Meat Alternative Man Get's A Beet Heart
Watch a little man come to life from a block of tofu, and move around. Music by The University of Brattleoboro. Animation by HoughtonArt.com
This is the little man who we fling over the edge of the summit of Putney Mountain, near the solstice, with the hope that he will help bring more light to the world. We sing songs, we eat donuts, we fling the man.

One Way We Celebrate Solstice, In Vermont

20 years ago Rolf asked me if I could help him create a figure out of Seitan for his Solstice Seitan Sacrifice. This turned into a tofu puppet we called Meat Alternative man. After creating this puppet and giving him a heart of Seitan we didn't want to burn him so we created a papier mache travel pod shaped like a soybean and hiked him up to the Pinnacle in Westminster Vermont where he with the...

This video documents Jennifer Kalled www.kalledjewelrystudio.com/ creating a necklace from opals, pearls and other gemstones. Besides the studio shots, I shot footage of various underwater scenes, and trees in all their fall glory. The underwater scenes were originally just an idea born of the fact that opals are actually largely composed of water. Eventually, the underwater scenes became essen...

Rolf, that was a beautifully made film!

This idea started as a t-shirt design but it wanted a big wall.
Awesome!
Thanks!
I think we may need a contest to find the best footage of UFOs over Brattleboro. I think there could be two categories, one prize for UFOs created using special effect software, and another prize for footage shot of an actual object flying in real space. I personally think that drones are too easy and don't require much creativity, so, for this contest, I would exclude drones.
is that a plastic bag?
No.
Cheeseburger Wrapper UFO
Looked fake from the start
This video has been examined by technicians at the University of Brattleboro Photo Labs, and deemed to be real footage shot on a real cell phone, without any special effects.
I enjoy doing sgraffito very much. It's my favorite pottery technique. That's a LOT of work! How do you keep all the tiles uniformly moist while you work? You're either working so fast the tiles don't have a chance to start drying out, you're in a super humid area, or you've found a magic way to keep them all at the optimum leather hard stage while you work! When I am working on a big area I have to spritz pieces with a water mister continually!
Lovely!!! master of your Art
I’m doing an assignment off this what tools did you use
Absolut genial!!! 👍👍👍
I don't trust you guys
Mocha Joe coffee is real start believing it now
Where r people's comments ??? There's only ur reply in most of the comments 🙄🙄
This is insane 😲😲 loved it a lot ❤️♥️❤️
It looked great before she started carving those ugly leaves in, the shape of the leaves is really bad and they look kitschy. It looked great as abstract art before the tree and leaf shapes!!
Super
I don't even have words for this absolute talent
Thanks for the comment. Do you mean the video or the carving, or both?
The carving. Can't even dream of talent like that.
Holy crap, that's incredible!!!!
Waoo! Facinating 😻
I really liked it Claudio Sao Paulo Brazil 2017

Thank you. I hope to get make to making videos. But maybe it is time to make non commercial ones.
What an amazing piece of art...thank you for sharing your methodology...I will have to try the iron oxide for my instrument making....:) Cheers! Vicki
How beautiful!! I am just starting Ceramics 1, and your video is so inspiring; a fabulous example of what a versatile medium clay is! Loved watching the process!
+Eliza Graves Thank you. It was enormously fun to create this video for Natalie Blake. When something is fun, it is easier to capture how graceful it is.
What does she put on top of the clay ?
+keely hopwood The tiles are brushed / painted with iron oxide, which is basically rust. This iron oxide turns black when it is heated in the kiln. That's why whatever is carved away is not black. Later, after the first firing, the tiles are glazed various colors.
Oohhh ,thank you It seems really cool you're really talented
who else came here for steven universe
+daniel sanders Hi Daniel, what's steven universe?
A beautiful film. Its style and choice of music fits wonderfully with the pottery. So relaxing but engauging at the same time.
+catherine stephenson Thank you kindly. I really worked to tie the music to the video. It helped to have great music that I could edit to, and listen to, hundreds of times. It stayed fresh, no matter how many times I went back to it during the edit.
which color icing first ? LISTERI ??
miodrag maksimovic They use iron oxide, and scrape it away. The oxide becomes black after it goes through the firing. The other colors come from glazes.
tnx
Gorgeous sgraffito work
I'm not an artist myself in the conventional sense. But I know something if beauty and high art when I see it. Art is in the craft, in simplicity, in the imagination. The art is as much a price of the artist as his/her hands and the mind that gave it existence. I believe to understand someone look at their art, or play chess with them. Again reading my own comments and watching your video gave me the same rush of joy and inspiration. THANK YOU!
Thank you!
